F090/S and the SS Endurance race...
Whenever you race an endurance race in the hopes of winning a specific car, there is a 3 in 4 chance you won't get what you want. It's very frustrating to attempt these races multiple times only to keep winning cars you don't want or need. I've come across what may be a record in consecutive SS Endurance wins with no F090/S in the garage... 23. Wity over at the granturismobynumbers.com forums has won that race 23 times and still has no F090/S to show for it.
Anyone else had a similar experience with the SS Endurance or other endurance races?

I have had the experience, but not like that. When I raced the Mistral 78 laps, It took me about 9 times to finally get the Zonda (I wanted one bad, and I already had the F686/M from LS 200 endurance).

F090/S

Got the car after 4 attemps, but missed out on the F687/s on the seattle race. Not like those serise races where u save before the last race and keep reloading if u don't get the car u want. Does anyone have any ideas on avoilding this?

Didn't have much of a Problem...
I found that pressing the X button to choose one of the 4 cars works with all the endurance and series races. You just have to be quick about it... Got the tip from someone else and it works...

.... a Polly 001appear in my Garage.
Actually Kerr I will be there foreve trying to get a F090/S as you have now sussed I am a PAL user.
Obviously having tried 23 times I tried all the so called foolproof methods to no avail. It's random for sure, that is unless your luck is as bad as mine.

I have 3 Fcars in my garage...
It wouldnt really be a problem trying to get those road-gripping, awesome-brakin', super-speedin', amazingly-engineered Fcars if only you know the trick. I got my F688/s, F686/m and F090/s by pressing the X button when the GT logo appeared on their bottom. Go race the Super-speedway with your ESCUDO using the "stick-trick" and get that F090/s! And for the record.... I got mine with only one attempt. Wanna trade? Hehehe..

I wasn't familiar with the x button trick
Post #8 - Posted 01/15/2002 10:40 AM
In the past on tournament races, I've saved and restarted to get the car I wanted. This technique obviously doesn't work on the enduros, so I'll try it later if I get the time to actually race one.

Wity,
The F090/S is an okay car. I'm not familiar with the PAL version of the game, but if you can get a hold of the F094/S or equivalent it is definitely a better performing car. Hopefully you already have it.

Same problem here
Done it about 10-15 times, no F090/S yet. I haven't lucked out with winning another F1 since i won the F688/s on the first enduro race i ever did, Roadster Enduro at A.H. Was first try too, won it and no F1 since. And any other enduro i tried no luck with winning an F1, even the Laguna Seca one with 2 F1's as prizes.

This has to be the record nobody wants to beat.
hehe thinking about it I realise the trick to it was:
I used new rubber bands on the 24th attempt. The 25th , 26th and 27th all produced Polly 001's.

F1 cars
I have won 3 enduro races so far, and completed beginners league, also completed quite a number of races in ameteur and proffesional league. I still have not got a F1 car, do you think the US version of the game is configured differently to the uk version, fed up with sore left thumb !!!!!

Lucky old me!
I've been lucky I guess, after reading this. I won my F1 001, F1 002, C5R, RX7 LM and Esperante all first time out! MIND AND WILL POWER!!! Hehe. I've also tried the x button trick, but it's never worked - could it be a NTSC feature, I'm on PAL?

I'm not sure...
Maybe I'm doing it incorrectly, but I've tried the X button trick a number of times on the NTSC version of GT3 with no results.

Friend won it first try
Oddly, considering all these claims that is super hard to achieve, he just bought the game, grabbed his IA licence, beat the Roadster Enduro, got the F688/s, then goes and runs the Super Speedway and nabs the F090/s first try. I dunno how he did it, and i dont think he knows of the button trick. I've done it about 6 times or so, and still no luck.

Your friend definitely had better luck than most.
I'm not sure what algorithm the game has been programmed with to decide what car you win, however it goes to say that an algorithm by nature can never be totally random. This is evidenced by the fact that I reset and loaded a game 7 times consecutively at the end of a long tournament and received the very same car the first six tries. Anyone care to get hold of a dev unit, decompile the game and find out?

I dont have a clue what you mean by that but would be interested in an explanation as it seems that is the sort of thing so needed now to re write mk's replay swopper used in gt2

Development units are PS2 units sent from Sony to game developers so they have the tools necessary to program games. I was half joking with my earlier comment, but I assume anyone outside of the gaming industry would be hard pressed to procure one. I'm not sure how mk wrote his replay swapper as I've never seen it in action. Sounds like it worked more on the memory card storage level rather than actually getting into the programming code of the game though. I remember seeing a thread on this subject awhile back, does mk not want to pursue the replay swapper this time around?

I havn't had this problem, I raced 2 erndurance races and got 2 F/090s by not pressing, but tapping the x button when it goes under them, If you press it it goes to the one you release it on, if you tap it while it's under it you will get the car you want, and as for the c5r just finish the amateur league. You get one guaranteed after you beat it.

Morlock,
One thing I've noticed is the speed with which the "cursor" rotates around the cars is very fast at first and then slows down as the clock ticks down. How long do you wait before tapping X?
You also get a C5R when you attain 50% completion in sim mode.
