Favorite F1 Car (NTSC)
I've been racing three F1 cars for some time now, the F090/S, F094/S, and F686/M. As far as handling is concerned, I can get them all very similarly set up... so for me the answer to which is my favorite comes down to pure speed. The F090/S is the clear loser in this contest. It seems the F094/S has marginally better pickup in the 0-100mph range while the F686/M has a little better acceleration at 120+mph. I don't know, this could be some sort of gearing issue but the setups I'm running are practically identical. I like them both, but the engine sound of the F686/M definitely appeals to me more than the F094/S. So, to make a long story short, I'm torn.

Now I just need to get hold of an F094/H! What do you folks think?

You got more F1's than me
Freakin enduro's are holding out on me, so far the only one i have is the F688/S from the Roadster Enduro. Now, i've raced almost every enduro atleast once and usually get the crap car. Hell, 2 hours on Rome gave me a Lancia rally car....and that thing sucks imho. Kinda pisses me off that i blew all that time for generally the cheap car of the 4 prizes. Anyone else have a prob with the enduro's constantly holding out with the F1's? I'm probably gonna end up doing the last 4 enduro's i need, get the F094/H and go blow away the big portion of Professional League i need to finish.

F1's against other cars takes away the fun!
Seriously, I wouldn't race an F1 on anything but the Formula GT. You will be unchallenged and it will IMO make the game boring for you. The only way I got any of the F1 cars I have is through using the save trick right before the end of a multi-race tournament cup. Racing enduros for F1 cars is a crap shoot at best!

I admit, i have used the F688/S to basically waste all of Amatur league. Problem is, i usually ditch a game before i beat it because i get stuck somewhere..or i get bored of losing, which ever comes first. I'm currently losing interest because i dont have alot of free time on my hands now, and i'm in the midsts of the Pro league..which isnt exactly a bunch of quick races. I dont have time to do a 10 race series where each track has 10-15 laps. Thats where the enduro's come in. Easy for me to win usually, so i go for it, in hopes of a nice car. Using a heavily overpowering car in an enduro allows for some fun too, get a few laps ahead, and work on your line, pushing the car to the limits of turns. I enjoy a fun spinout around a hairpin via the handbrake, just adds a little fun when your bored of the conventional racing.

You can save in the middle of tournaments
Post #4 - Posted 01/29/2002 12:13 AM
Yeah I do see your point there, Teken. Do you know you can save your game in the middle of a 10 race set? When the post-race screen comes up, just move your cursor over to the save icon; save your game; then come back whenever and resume at the next race. Sorry if you knew about that, just wanted to make sure you knew about it. Makes those short times you do have to play the game more productive Smile

i know..
i've used it before..i just prefer to go through an entire series at one time because if you save in the middle, and don't play for a few days, you sometimes lose that feel you had when you were playing, and then you have to get used to the game again when you start up again, and it puts you at a disadvantage being in that position. I've used the save feature to do that many times, and thats what i've noticed.

Teken, I know what you mean about getting out of the zone when you spend a few days away from the game. That's why I save the game to my 2nd memory card right before I start a series in case I really don't feel like finishing it or just want to screw around or practice at some point.

I remember having trouble back in the day trying to get my first F1 (the F090/S). I raced Super Speedway at least 4 or 5 times till I finally got it. The last time I raced on that track, I pressed the X Button, when the GT Logo flashed under the F1 car, fluke or not I won it. I just won a F686/M (I think it's that) from the Formula GT league. I'm kind of pissed off about winning that, because I just win it again after I complete Professional League. Once I save up enough money I'm going to get the other F1 car from my little bro's save.

It does piss me off a lot that you have to run enduros over and over until you get the F1. I'm definitely waiting for one of the F094s. I read there the fastest F1s. Hope I get one soon.

Yeah, the F094/S is definitely one of the top notch F1's in the game. The power is unbelievable compared to the F090/S.

Just finished the Grand Valley enduro, and no F1. Got stuck with the crap Spoon S2000 race car. Already had one too. I'm gonna have to grab my S licence and go do the Polyphony Digital Cup and try for the F094/S. I really want another F1. This F688/S has a couple thousand miles on it and i've wanted to see what differs from each F1.

FINALLY!
just beat the Mistral 78 enduro, and got me the F686/M. This things pretty nice too, 926 horses to play with. I am so happy now, finally a prize car thats worth something. Its alot more responsive in the accel department than that crap F688/S.

Congrats on getting the 686/M, Teken! I'd take that or the F094/S any day.

Harrism, you may want to check gamefaqs.com for what race series will win you which vehicle.

It's too easy.
Getting the best F1 (IMO) car in the game is not hard guys. You take your GT-One Road car and your S Licence to The Polyphony Digital Cup. Win (not hard, dissapointingly) and use the save trick. Voila, the F094/S is all yours.

That is exactly the way I won mine. For the rest of you folks who want to know how to get what car where, gamefaqs.com has a number of FAQs which tell you how to obtain all the cars in GT3.

Just finished the Trial Mountain enduro, and got me a nice black/yellow F094/H. Then, right after, got me another nice black/yellow F094/H for completing all of Endurance League. I have yet to try them out.

F094/H test results
after mainly some accel and handling tests on various areas, i guess i'll give my opinion on it. Its somewhat smaller than the other F1s. Especially compared to the much wider F686/M. This smaller size allows for a slight betetr handling, but its not too much. with about 729 hp after an oil change, its not a slow bigger either. The both the 400m and 1000m acceleration tests proved it dosent slack with the accel, as it was around what my other F1's produced, in stock form. Note: all my F1's are stock, so its pretty good info. I didnt have time to check its top speed, but i assume its not far behind from the F686/M.

Polyphony001 & 002 F1 cars (PAL) what are they, and which one is best
Post #20 - Posted 03/02/2002 8:20 AM
PAL version- Polyphony001 & Polyphony002 F1 cars what are they, and which one is best.
Are these the only F1 cars in the PAL version.
From what I can find out through other forums:
Polyphony 001-Ayrton Senna's Williams-Renault FW16,1994(F094/S)Hybrid,with high nose front wing.
Polyphony 002-Ayrton Senna's McLaren-Honda MP4/4,1988(F688/S)Hybrid-The most succesful F1 Car ever,winning 15/16 rounds of that year's World Championship.

I only have the Polyphony 001 so far, I don't know which one is best.
