New feature - subscription services
Hey guys, I just implemented a subscription feature for cars, setups and home page posts. First, the car subscription:

If you're a member of gtvault.com you can now get e-mail notification when a new setup for a given car is posted to the site. Go to the Preferences page and select the car(s) you want to get notification on. You can subscribe to as many cars as you wish.

Second and third are setup and home page post subscription. This feature is very similar to the auto e-mail subscription features of many forums on the web. Whenever you post a comment on another's setup or on a home page post you will be automatically subscribed to that setup/post. You will receive an e-mail when a user posts the next comment. The e-mail will have a direct link to the setup/post and also an unsubscription link. The auto subscription feature can be turned on/off via the Preferences page. I have defaulted everyone's status to "on".

I'm still updating the FAQ, but I wanted to get this one out there since I spent the past week solid on it.

i am glad that you added the setup/home page subscriptions. I get tired of fishing through setups i have commented on to check if the original creator of the setup replies back. This and the e-mail notification for specific cars are great features to use. I've already setup the notification for alot of my commonly used cars, as well as a few i've been wanting to try.

Cool, I'm glad you guys like it. FYI, right now you have to comment on a setup to subscribe to it - I will be adding a "subscribe" link to the setup pages so you can subscribe to a setup without having to actually post a comment.

Gamesharks are bad!!!
I came home today and turned on my game. I put the game shark in it froze up.So I started to play GT3. Everything is gone. 76% complete reduced to 0%!!! No Indy cars just 18,000 cr. I am pissed off.Now I must start over what I started last Christmas. I'll never get my records back or anything but when I do get my cars back every one. I will always have my setups. Here at GT3 tuners vault.

Gamesharks..
It is noted by Gameshark that the device CAN cause your data to be lost. Be thankful it hasent completely destroyed the ability for the game to run, like mine has. I used to use it on a Gameboy, and it screwed one of them up, its unplayable now.

Oh, and i like snappers idea of a chatroom, it gets annoying trying to chat via these comments.

You guys keep talking about chatrooms - do you mean forums? There's a big difference between chatrooms like on IRC or AIM and forums like at granturismo.com. I've had numerous requests for something of that sort. To make a long story short, it would take me easily 100+ hours to integrate forums into this site. I currently have a lot of other ideas for the site that have a higher priority... I'm thinking about it though.

either of them
it could be either forums or an IRC based chat. an IRC chat would be fairly easy to setup, compared to the 100+ hours you would need to intergrate a forum/message board. There has to be someone who frequents this site with IRC experience, if you wish to go that route.

OK, I have a question that's off topic....Are there any cars on this site that don't have a single setup?

Teken - hit enter twice between each car and you'll get the carraige return you're looking for. (hitting enter twice now)

Like this (and again)

You get the point...

A3nImA - I thought the P001 & P002 were the same car as two of the NTSC version F1's. I can't remember which though. I may be in the minority on this, but I have found that I use almost exactly the same settings on the different F1 cars.

i dunno much about the ntsc f1 cars but i doubt they r the same as the 001 and the 002
001 is very very different from the 002, the 002 looks and sounds more like an indycar

I'm stupid...
Post #13 - Updated 06/25/2002 10:08 PM
Jesus guys, I messed up. All the e-mails that have been going out on setups had my testing server's address instead of the real gtvault.com address. Home page post subscription e-mails should be okay. Anyway, I corrected the problem for anyone using the car subscription feature.

Sorry,

Kerr

Setups wanted list
Hey Kerr,

just wondering if you could start a "Setups wanted" list.
Where people could request for setups of a car that does not have settings in the database yet .

Just wonderin ....

Fumes,

Per Teken's research we only have 19 cars left which have no setups - I didn't know it was that close. It would be nice to have all the cars represented. I think I'll put up a "setups needed" page only it will be real time so no one has to do any digging through the database for cars without setups.

Thanks for the suggestion - Kerr

You're most likely not to find anything around here - I made the site specifically for GT3 and the way the cars are set up in that game. There used to be a site a long time ago which had GT2 setups and that is why I created this site, but that site is long gone.
