One Last Run

I was looking forward to getting this car so much I could almost taste it. Then I got it. What can I say except that I am less than thrilled? The tuning above represents my last attempt to tune out the little flaws I found. What clenched it for me was the fact that with 471 miles on the car it had dropped to 973hp, not the best performance. Out of loving respect I will slap a pair of T2 tires on this car and take it for one last ride on the Super Speed Way 150 (Endurance Race) and then retire it with its little brother the SS.

Have you taken it to the Oil change shop? Same screen as where you buy new wheels.

An Oil change will (or should) bring the lost HP back to at least 993hp.

Oil change
After extended use the cars in GT3 start to loose their hp permanently. Even an oil change won't bring them back. If you notice when I did the setup originally it was at 993hp, so the loss of 20hp is a permanent effect of the game design to reflect engine wear and tear. On the other side of the coin if you watch a new car that you are breaking in you will notice from race to race that the hp will slowly grow, it varies from car to car but averages around 10hp to 15hp gained before leveling off. As a last note you should always get an oil change before you run any car that you win or buy, that includes the vaunted F1 cars.

My point (my reasean to whine) in the last post is that I lost that power around 250+ miles. Most cars in GT3 don't start to loose power till around 450+ miles of driving. Some go down hill as fast as this car, the Camaro RC, and some go on for more life. You just have to watch the hp of each car after each oil change.

In an earlier post to you I did say that I was new to tunning, not to the game. Since I have you here and I do respect your opinion so much mind droping in and taking a look at my Toyota Road Car, it has a small problem I mention in the notes. Also Fumes, between you and me the big explanation of hp loss above was for any new players to GT and not really for you, I don't want to start any misunderstandings or appear that I am lecturing someone of your vast experiance.

No, I didn't take it as lecturing.
I realise that cars do loose hp permanently, but I didn't know the Camaro race car looses it that quickly. So, I learnt something new.

One Last Run: Recap
So I bought a pair of T2's for the front and back, pushed the auto up from 32 to 33, and kept the rest of the setup the same. I know what you are thinking and your right, I could have adjusted more and most likly gotten an improvement in performance. However, with a best lap time at the Super Speedway 150 of 30.7xx seconds I can no longer complain. The car now has 623 miles and the engine has leveled out at 973hp. In GT3 terms the engine is blown and now I retire the car.

On the subject of retire, I would like to see a "prize room" in GT4 where the cars can really be retired. You would be able to use them again in Arcade mode but not in Simulation mode, or something like that.

oil change

before doing the oil change get all the upgrades for the car, if you have the money. that way the hp gain is greater than if you do it at the start
