Nice vid. Engine sounds are great, but at points sure seem to be dubbed in. Watch as the R8 brakes while going into a turn yet you hear the engine wind up through a gear. Plus we should've heard the Doppler effect at that point. Regardless, the sound quality itself is very exciting.

At which point do you think it transitions from CG to the game engine? I'd say possibly as the camera crosses the threshold of the window when exiting the Xanavi, but possibly before that, based on the very detailed in-car screenshot I've seen.

It's real nice to see that F430 going around the track! The R8 looks awesome, and of course they had to tease us at the end with the forthcoming Skyline GT-R. I swear PD are Nissan shills. I've owned more Nissans than any other brand, and I still feel justified in saying that. There are around 100 Nissans in GT4, yet there are 88 marques to choose from...

Another GT5 video which I have never seen before...

Anyone with a good DVD collection will most likely have a free set of calibration tests for video and sound. Movies which include the THX Optimizer can be used to set up the colour on most TVs and to check the sound adjustments and wiring. Even though you may think you have wired up your speakers properly, I do know of people who found out their speakers were assembled incorrectly at the factory and one or more speaker was out of phase. Some LCD TVs are a problem because they don't allow some colour adjustments when using component inputs. Some colour tests require red/blue "glasses".

THX has a list of 652 movies which include the THX Optimizer.

Sure there are other, even better, tests, but the Optimizer is free and will get you going today. Using these tests turned and older CRT TV into a real trooper with a very nice image, but you may have to play around a bit with brightness/contrast levels for GT4. I found the tests made it look pretty dark, even though the game is dark to begin with.

October 2008 is more like it. They really should get on the ball. With Forza racking up sales and GTR coming out soon the heat should really be felt by PD. This is a really good year for racing titles. With Forza 2, PGR3 and NFS: ProStreet. I just love it when alot of racing games flood the market.

I agree but you must also think. The GT series has never really been threatened by another Simulation racer. Forza was really the first cometitive Simulation type racer for GT. But I suppose they really shouldn't worry unless another game comes out on the PS3. I surely wouldn't have bought my 360 just for Forza 2. But I will buy a PS3 just for GT. The GT community is much more...to use the term loosely, "loving". We respect eachother more. It seems Forza players love to trash talk. I've only seen a few times here or at GTplanet where people have been rude. Got to forzamotorsport.net and it is a totally different story. Anyway I gotta run.

I can tell you right now I will think long and hard before supporting GT5 if PD intend to nickel and dime gamers to death with "microtransactions" for extra cars.
