Anyone have the NA release of GT5P?
Post #1 - Updated 04/17/2008 6:06 AM
Does anyone have it? I never bother with pre-orders, so I'm going to head to one of the local stores sometime today to hopefully grab a copy. From what I've read over at gtplanet, a very few people were able to get the game yesterday, with most retailers reporting today as their street date. I believe the PSN version comes online tomorrow, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $40 USD for something I can't hold in my hand.
EDIT
I found it after work at Game Stop.

 Got it last thursday, working on the s class now. Yes the tunning is available after you finish the A class. Quick tune is an option at the start of a race and 3 tunes per car can be saved.

Yes, after you finish the A,B, and C classes you can start tuning your cars as well as a new S class. But you can't purchase any upgrades

GT3: A-Spec Overheated Brakes
Post #8 - Posted 04/22/2008 11:37 AM
Anybody have this problem?
In races where overheated brakes are a factor, how do you stop your brakes from dragging?
Even in the speedway races, where the brakes are never used, my brake icons end up glowing cherry red & of course I end up with no brakes at all.
I've tried running a stock [no tune-shop items] car; removing all brake related items; going into settings & choosing a very low or even "0" on ABS systems.
As it is I can't run at the professional level as all tracks seem to have the brake icon activated.
I should mention that my icon starts to change colour as soon as I leave the line! In checking out the replay, everyone else's brake icon stays blue or at the most a light green long after mine turn red. It doesn't matter which car I race with!
Love the game but can't go any further until I figure this one out & it has me totally stumpted!!! Please help!

Welcome to the PS3 version of GT, everyone!
Got the game, got a $5 discount for pre-ordering, got the free PS3 toque!
Also got the Clio Sport V6 in Iliad Blue, so I'm happy.
Now, let's see... hmmm, no Prologue settings.
Is it going to happen, Kerr?

I've been so busy IRL I haven't even had time to get past A class events to see the tuning model. Someone correct me, but I believe the new tuning system is dumbed down and it's not equipment based, but rather all or nothing based on cars themselves. Anyway, there is a ton of data validation that would have to go into the effort and I'm not sure if I'll have the time.

That's OK. I was just checking to see how tight the thumbscrews could be turned.
==================
SONY acknowledged they have a network problem today.
If you have this error when trying to enter on-line races, go to Options/Network setting and clear the cache.
If you have turned off UPnP in either the console or your router to solve this problem, you should turn it back on and test entering again.

I did finally get time to pass the A class races to see the tuning model. It not being equipment based actually simplifies things, so I think I'll just have to figure out the min/max ranges on everything for validation. My PC shot craps so I have to fix that, and that's a hell of an undertaking.
If anyone has a desire to help me out - I could use it in the form of determining what the min/max ranges are for all the tuneable parts of a car. Ex: Gear 1 may be 1.000-9.999 or weight may be -30 to +30. My experience has told me that in past games the min/max were relatively consistent for things like spring rates, toe and camber but were vastly different for things like ride height and downforce. I'm not sure how things are working yet in GT5P as I've only messed around with the Ferrari F430. What a badass car!

PS3 /GT5-P Bundle ?
Post #13 - Updated 04/27/2008 2:39 PM
Hey all, Is the PS3 available with GT5 Prologue as a promo bundle? Also what is the latest greatest in PS3 features? Lots of 40 gig machines on the shelves, but I want to be albe to play my PS2 games also. What's my best bet? 'Bout ready to buy, Brian

I haven't heard about a bundle at this point, but my understanding about the 40GB machines is that they didn't feature PS2 emulation. I'd have to recommend the PS forums to see what's going on on that front. Not a lot of activity here these days.

Heh, yeah picking up GT4 after playing the HD demo in a video game store a couple weeks back, I've noticed this. I have several great setups I want to post, but with GT4 being obsolete now it seems moot.
I would love to get the new game, but alot has changed since I was a frequent contributer here. I have a beautiful daughter now, and buying a PS3 is cost prohibitive at this point. The new Gt series and the latest Grand Theft Auto make strong cases for me to save up for it, but oh well. I'm stuck on the ol' PS2. Always sucks feeling behind the times.
As far as Gt4 goes, I still at about 70%. Most of the cars I buy and enjoy have little place other than family cup ventures.
Anyway, thanks Kerr for keeping the site going. As for much of I have read about tuning in the new game- it disappoints me, but at least it seems simplified for you to add. Haha, easy for me to say of course.
Your great effort towards the franchise has been a blessing to many, and I hope that the new additions to the franchise re-spark interest here.

You're going to have to watch a few cars, Kerr. For example, in their current condition, the MINI has two messed up gears and one of the VW Golf GTi has a gear problem, too.
The MINI's 5th gear is not in the right range and 6th isn't much of an over-drive gear - it is just set as a duplicate of 4th.
MINI
Gear # Range Default
1st = 3.758 - 5.290 4.455
2nd = 2.161 - 3.410 2.714
3rd = 1.235 - 1.885 1.333
4th = 1.089 - 1.186 1.089
5th = 1.235 - 1.333 1.333
6th = 0.653 - 1.186 1.089
I looked at a smattering of other cars and found the VW GTI '05 to have a similar problem with 5th gear, so maybe not all cars are set up well, right now. Maybe PD will fix these, maybe they won't.

GT5P as well as the GT5 Logitech wheel unit are available at my nearby Best Buy. But I've heard the GT5P has so little challenge to it that perhaps I'll hang fire until the full GT5 is available.
Say, Kerr, I'd like to make a donation to the GTVault, but I do not wish to use PayPal. Is there a snail mail address I could send my check to, please?
Grateful for the GTVault,
Dotini

With on-line supplying endless entertainment until GT5 arrives, you may find avoiding the prologue a big mistake. There will be at least one huge update, probably some time in the Fall, which will include damage and the Photo Mode favourite of many, along with improved game engines.
It's your call, but I won't miss this party for anything.

GT5PRO I hate the stupid ass s class penalties. You will get a 4 sec pen if another car hits you. If they push you into a corner and off the track you get the short cut pen. I can understand getting pens for cheating but this is messed up!.
