E3: Gran Turismo 5 in 2010
The news comes from GTPlanet
http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-in-2010/

Quote:
In a very interesting statement at E3 today, GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi brought us both good and bad news. The good news is that he confirmed that the Polyphony Digital team was focusing nearly all of their efforts on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, working hard to bring us features like vehicular damage, private online races, new tracks, and more cars. Of course, there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch, and he added that these updates could push the full version of Gran Turismo 5 back into 2010. He also confirmed that Gran Turismo Mobile, for the PSP, is still in “active development” but probably not be released until after Gran Turismo 5 (in other words, 2011).

In other news:
I now have the new Driving Foce GT Wheel from Logitech for use with my PS3 games.

That seems like old news concerning GT5. I swore I read it some place a while back but maybe I'm just recalling incorrectly. Anyway the Driving Foce GT Wheel from Logitech looks like a nice one. I used to have the Driving Force Pro and was disappointed when the pedals started having problems. I've since replaced mine with the Logitech G25 Racing Wheel. It was worth the extra cost to have the feel of a leather wrapped steering wheel and the ability to move the shift selector to any place I wanted it. I modified my racing stand so I could mount the shifter in a more natural position. Also when GT5 does come out it should support a clutch (which comes with the G25) as well as the ability to select gears (1 through 6 + Reverse) which the G25 also supports. I'm really looking forward to giving this thing a workout.

I've been enjoying the G25 with GT5P for about a month now............... After setting up the shifter pod buttons for the RA features of the DFGT I can't see why you wouldn't go with the GT5................. or maybe it's my leather fettish? LOL
Good to see you around again DTW!! Drop me a line to let me know what's new with you, Brian

Ahh, I've been looking to get a wheel. I've been addicted to GTA IV lately, so haven't done much racing at all during the little time I've had to game.

DTW - what up? How is AK?

2010 = 2011 judging by PD's ability to meet even postponed deadlines.

Life is excellent but I'm in WA not AK. Those orders got canceled and this was as close as they could get us. Not that I'm complaining this has to be the most beautiful area I have ever been to and there is no ends to the driving fun on the mountain roads. I traded off my Mazda MPV for an Audi Q7 so I can attest to the driving pleasure first hand.

If you are considering a wheel the G25 is computer ready and fully configurable.

Good to hear! Busy as hell here, lots of reorg crap at work. I hear WA is really a beautiful part of the country. I'll have to take a trip up there one day.

So you like your Q7 then? I bought a 2005 Audi S4 awhile back, so I feel you on the pleasures of driving an Audi!

This is totally weird, but I saw this when I logged in just now...

Aside from the visitors, it looks a helluva lot like when we were all working on the site for GT4.

Oh absolutely and the customer care that they and the dealership provide is unlike anything I received from Ford, Mazda, or Toyota when I bought from them. I am amazed that anyone could build a vehicle which is so large yet handles like a sports car. It weighs so much that I don't have the heart stopping acceleration of a sports car but I can easily take turns at speeds other large vehicles I have driven could not. As you alluded to there is no way to describe the feel of an Audi unless you have driven one. I recommend anyone who can do so even if it's just a test drive from a local dealership. If I had a way to host pictures I could post one up here.

Yeah, the customer service is a lot better, what with the courtesy cars and general way they treat you there. I think that Q7 has the same motor as my car - 4.2l V8, right?

Not sure what you mean... I just copied / pasted the Currently Online screenshot because of who I saw on yesterday.

No I picked up the 3.6l V6 at 280hp. I wanted the V8; however, considering gas prices and the amount of driving I will be doing with the Q7 it wasn't practical. True enough the 350 horses would be nice to play with while doing joy drives but the V6 did a fine enough job too. Besides when moving the family across country driving slowly down well maintained highways and towing 4k or 5k pounds I wont be needing to tap into that kind of power.

There was nothing to my comment other then a gentle probe to see if you will be doing anything for GT5. As I recall it was about this same time (relatively speaking from launch date) that you started the planning stage for GT4.

Oh I see! I had initially planned to do something for GT5P, but soon after release when I realized that PD is truly using it as a test bed I backed off of the whole thing.

I have some ideas for GT5. The site, technologically, is sound, but things have moved in a direction on the web that are keeping me from doing a hell of a lot with the current iteration of GTVault. Today's site is all custom from the ground up, which has it's pros and cons. I am thinking of moving to either a content management system or at least some sort of development framework. Doing so would make publishing new features and rollout of new content easier. All that being said, I have a lot less time these days to do this kind of thing Frown

When the time comes, I'm certainly in to lighten the load on the time it would require for a GT5 Version of The 'Vault......... I'm not much a website guru, but can certainly research and test like the best of 'em

Wow, nostalgia ... all the "old" guys are still here and posting in this thread.

wots sup all !

I have started reading GTVault again after a break of almost 1.5 years.

I started playing GTR2 and rFactor and for a while that took up some of my time.
But it was the birth of my beautiful daughter that took me away from most things, including my favourite past time activities.

Anyway, good to see you guys still around.

Congrats on the new family member. I have two girls and love them both but there is something special about having a son that I can't put into words. Is this your first baby? If so you must have at least one more so they can play together but don't wait too long or the age difference may become to great a barrier.

I was playing Race07 there for a while but it didn't have the feel of a goal. I like to have some kind of clear objective when playing a game, some ending point you know.

Thanks DTW. Yes, my first. And don't worry, we have no intention of stopping at one. Hopefully the next one will be soon.

rFactor and GTR2 has been a different experience due to the more accurate physics and the variety of cars and tracks. The two games are giving my G25 wheel a good workout too.

GT wheel
Wow a lot of the old members posting again!

Anyway, the new wheel is great. The whole 900 rotation lock took some time to adjust to but I think I'm getting there. Drifting is a problem tho I must admit, ah well my laptimes are quicker anyway.
