Gran Turismo 4 screenshots
I found a couple screenshots of Gran Turismo 4 in an E3 update over at CNN/Money. Click here and then click on the link that reads "Launch Pop-Up Gallery" on the right hand side. The graphics look very impressive, especially the aerial shot.
Here is another link with 7 pics (posted by youpey)

Impressive Graphics
The aerial shot looks pretty cool. Hope there's no performance loss by virtue of improving the graphics. The PS2 only has so much horespower to give. I hope for as long as it's taking Sony to bring GT4 to the North American market, it will be worth the wait. I'd love to see them bring it to the PC market, just to take advantage of the ever-continuing cycle of upgrades the PC offers. I still have not seen an XBOX racing title that comes close to GT3 as a pure simulation-based title. I can do without the corny storylines and movie-like simulations. The XBOX still suffers from the lack of a good steering wheel. I'm still trying to figure out why they decided not to include a USB port other than trying to keep it proprietary.
I'm looking forward to more shots of GT4 and comparing how closely it will duplicate the Asian version.

I know what you mean about graphics vs. performance. I remember F1 '98 for the PS1 was graphically stunning, but if there were more than 5 cars on the screen you had to kiss playability goodbye. This is the exact reason I play PC games 3/4 of the time. At least I have some recourse if I purchase a game that has a sluggish framerate.
One of the only XBox racing titles I have enjoyed was Gotham Street Racing. It's definitely not a sim in the vein of GT3, however it has some great cars and the multiplayer action was great.

Sweet Graphics
I want it now! Those rally shots make me drool, so clean, detailed, and realistic. Much more smoothed surfaces compared to GT3. If the graphics stay like that, i will definatly have one put on reserve.

Midnight club 2
that game has some neat graphic things but no where near GT3's realness but It was really fun...I haven't played it for about 2 weeks...I beat it 100% but when I get the online adaptor I'll play it more...the final car is a jet car and with nitrous it goes 0-200 in around 1.75 seconds!! It turns like shit though!!!
well now I'll talk about GT3 I've added a GT-0ne race car setup that goes 281 mph without the wheelie trick and those pics look awsome..don't worry about the playability compare Midnight club to Midnight club 2...the graphics got 10 times better and It was alot funner to play ,there were less glitches and you can create your own races! that game's only flaw is that it was too easy...well I'm gonna keep rambling on you know that game "Tokyo Xtreme raver Zero" that game is awsome there gonna be a sequel which I'll buy as soon as it comes out....well I'm gonna go and setup my Supra RZ to go faster than 273.6 mph c ya

GT4
Got some info about GT4, but it's not much though... I read somewhere that (can't exactly remember on what site.) somebody who works on GT4, held a speech about it. He said that GT4, should get over 2000 vehicles (i sure hope they'll put a lot of muscle cars in it!) and about 200, or 300 tracks. This is incredible news, but kind off hard to believe. I'm not sure if it's true, but if it is, it's fantastic! Maybe some of you already knew this but, i think this is great news, something that everybody should know.

This is not possible
For 2000 cars and 200 tracks there is just no way because if you think about they would have to use about 6 or 8 CD's just to fit all the information on and if they do manage this the price wont be cheap.

I agree with GT2000, but for different reasons. When GT3 was released, the two biggest complaints were that there weren't as many cars as compared to GT2 and the 'Race Modification' option had vanished. Polyphony Digital cited computing power, or lack thereof, as the reason behind the decisions. They said that they simply didn't have enough time to render all the models, much less render the additional models required for Race Modification. I don't see how it's possible to render 2000 models for GT4, given the clearly superior graphics as compared to GT3. I would rather see less cars and the reinstatement of the Race Modification option. Race Modification creates almost an entirely different car fo you to tune anyway.

Kerr by Race Modification do you mean the racing body shells that you could but on some of the standard road cars in GT2 because if it is I would also like to see this in GT4 as well.
I just hope that GT4 is better than GT concept because there was just no challenge in the game at all and this was because it was made for people that could not be bothered to start from the bottom and work up to the top.
Kerr I would just like to say that this is a top site for car setups and I was just wondering if you will be working on a car setup section for GT4 some time in the future.

GT2000 - yes what I meant on the Race Modification. Thanks for the compliments. I may, but I can't even begin work until I can get a copy of the game because the setup parameters will most likely be a little different.

GT4
I know, i already told you, it's hard to believe. I actually don't believe it, but, imagine what GT4 will become, if it IS true. Remember GT2? It had 2 cd's, they'll maybe do the same with GT4. A DVD has 4 surfaces, one layed over the other. Each surface (i'm sorry, if i can't explain this correctly, but i'm Dutch... sorry.), has a maximum capacity of 4.7GB. Now, GT3 was almost 4.7GB, so it still seems kind off impossible, but i think it can be done. The only question is: Will they do it?
As for GTC, GT4 will sure be better. Polyphony Digital said GTC was just a simple arcade mode game, so that the GT fans can play a GT game, while they are waiting for GT4.

XBOX
There IS a good sim game on XBox, Sega GT 2002. Nowhere near as many cars, but they're all great cars (including 6 muscle cars!). Sega is making a new one that will play online as well.

Graphics
GT1 had better graphics than GT2. Better AI. And it had the GT hi fi. which made the graphics spectacular. GT2 was like a reference guide compared to GT1. GT1 was fun. I think GT4 is going to combine the fun, graphics, and reference all in one. Thats my standpoint.
