Site access problems

Hey guys, I just found out that basically the entire site save the home page has been inaccessible since Monday. The problem should now be fixed, but if you see any other issues please post a comment here. The outage would not have been so extended, but it happened to occur while I was out of town on vacation. Thanks to all for their e-mails.

Yea things seem ok at the moment kerr.
Not been on GTvault for months but it's good to see the place is still going strong with new setups being added. Me thinks we just need GT4 now.

GT2000 - good to see an older member back. We are gearing up for a big site update for the release of GT4.

kerr, does this mean that this same site will have GT4 setups on it also?? If so, that would be awesome because that has been the one thing I've been woried about... if there would be a site as great and helpful as this one for GT4!! Thanks for all your hard work and time you put into this site!

Kerr, I'm glad you got the site fixed. I needed a setup for my 390 road car and the site was down. I was LOST. I can't set up a car (believe me, I've tried) I had nowhere to turn. I don't know if you can see how often I come to this site but if you can, you'll see it is all the time. I have printed so many setups, I have them in a binder.
Has anyone ever competed in a GT3 competition? Recently a local game store was having one for concert tickets. I was planning to go but I called the store to find out about how the competition would work and I asked about clean driving and my own cars and the punk on the phone said you are allowed to crash the other guy off the road. He said," Yeah you can crash the other guy. (like I was stupid for asking) That's how I win" I just couldn't waste my time with kids who were just playing a game and not DRIVING. Is this how they all are? I did a competition on GT3 times and 15 people entered only 10 submitted a time and I was last. The winners had me by two minutes in a 20 lap race. The best in the world.
Sorry I wrote so much. Just ignore me. DAMN !! Is GT4 EVER COMING OUT?!

As with any game, you'll have people who are hacks that must cheat to win all the way up to people who take it as seriously as if they were real racers racing real cars. Most people will fall somewhere in between. The only game competition I took part in was about 13 years ago with a bunch of NES games. All the kids were punching in cheat codes on their controllers, so needless to say it wasn't as much fun as it could've been. Your call to the game shop reminded me of that.
GT4 is *currently* due out 11/30/04.

Not really that, but there was some guy at Gamefaqs who was happy to see your site down and literally cursed out all of us who liked you site. Glad to see it back up Kerr!!!

nomeite - thanks for the link. I'd have replied on it, but I went through both pages on the thread and didn't see any indication of a reply button or link anywhere. No matter, there will always be some folks who don't like gtvault for whatever reason. It seems that zingaro's was the fact that he sees not tuning your own setup from the ground up as a weakness, and gtvault by it's own existence encourages exactly that. I couldn't care less. There are lots of folks whose racing and tuning skills have improved from using gtvault, and that's what matters. You certainly can't make everyone happy, but I'm glad there are very few attitudes like that one around here.

That's what is so great about the internet. A punk like zingaro can talk rude to people without getting a foot in his a**. I just read the tread listed and I wanted to choke the life out of the prima donna wannabe. I don't like to setup cars. I like to drive. If that makes me a non-hardcore GT3 nobody then that's what I am. So what. Kerr doesn't need everyone to tell him he has a great site. The site stats speak for themselves. I work in a prison and I see guys like zingaro all the time. They have created nothing. So they sit back and try to tear down other peoples achievments.

I am sure that after reading those posts Kerr you have come to the same conclusion I did. This is clearly demonracer. For those of you that may not know demonracer, he was a member here at GVault that we ejected for his general ignorance, poor tuning skills, and disgusting behavior.
Stevnj47, don't give him or that thread a second thought, he clearly has no idea of what he is saying nor is he qualified to speak for every person (you, me, etc.) that has bought and still plays this game. Welcome to GTVault and please continue to enjoy this site. Let us know if there is anything you need help with or if you run into that kind of behavior here, it will be corrected!

stevnj47 - Agreed. I love to race, yet find the task of tuning every little nuance of a car to be very tedious and time consuming. I'll leave that to the tuners here who are more patient than me!
I remembered seeing your occupation on your profile the other day. That can't be easy work, and I do bet you see your fair share of negativity there... to the point that it's hard to stomach that kind of attitude outside of work.
DTW - yes, I did think about it being demonracer. It's quite possible, given his linguistic skills.

LOL! Just because a guy is a jerk and corrects your english (or is it English?) doesn't mean he is Demonracer666. You don't lay awake at night thinking about him do you?

No I assure you that it has nothing to do with him correcting me. Besides what did he correct and what mistakes did I make? I am sure Kerr will agree with me when I say that it was the incorrect usage of words, poor grammar, and improper use of punctuation. I remember only because he would leave GTVault then come back under a new name. He did this, what three times Kerr?
Lying awake at night you ask; if that is the worst attack I have had than I could count myself lucky. Eleven years in the U.S. Army has made me insensitive to insults, I only carry on the fight when I wish to and in that case I did not. It was pretty clear that I had the upper hand and he was doing a far better job of insulting himself than I could have. Trust me when it comes to sleeping at night there are few that rest better than I! On the other hand there were a few differences between him and Demonracer so I certainly could be wrong; there is enough similarity... You did not really expect him to own up to it if he was Demonracer did you?

Leonard Wood for AIT, Desert Storm (2 stars, hay I was in AIT), Germany to 92, Bragg COSCOM to 94, 405th (or 249th?) QM Co Seoul Korea 95, Hunter AAF to 01. Now at Sam (yes it is still hot and yes the AIT is still rolling along) with the old lady who is a LT gone to Iraq this year. MOS 76J, 76V, 92A, and awarded Co Security NCO. I know, soft MOS's but I actually like logistics. I enjoy the challenge of 100% accuracy. Honorable separation as an anally retentive E-6 (really high promotion points, over strength MOS).

That is pretty amusing, though I'm still unconvinced that it's demonracer. The attitude is similar, but demonracer was always using 'mate' and would immediately launch into a tirade about Scots vs. Brits. vs. the world.

I thought about that tendency also, now keep in mind I could be dead wrong however the conclusion I reached was that he didn't want to open that particular can of worms. Here at the Vault we are more restrained and I feel that had he ventured into the Brits vs World area at Game Faqs it would have been too much for even him to handle.
