Detailing Cars
EDIT: Updated image links One of my hobbies is detailing cars. I detailed my girlfiend's old 1994 Probe GT about 3 months ago. She then sold it and purchased a new Scion tC. I took pics of both detail jobs and have taken quite awhile in getting around to posting them. If anyone's in the market for a new, cheap car, the Scion is a great deal. These images are all between 100-200k, so you dial-uppers consider that fair warning.

Probe Pics:
Probe Hood - I took this during the detail. Notice the heavy oxidization at the top left corner.

Hey, you blurred the plate in hood 2 but not in side 2. Both nice looking cars, how about pictures of the girlfriend? Just kidding. Wink
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

Haha - thx! I guess it doesn't matter much as that plate is no longer registered. I wish I had taken more pics of the Probe before I started the detail, as it was in terrible shape. She'd had the car five years and washed it about as many times. Road tar was thick at some spots that I'd swear she'd been through a tarpit.

Car dealers are crazy though. After the detail, she wanted to trade it in for the Scion and the dealer was going to give her $500 for it. Mind you, the car was mechanically in good shape and had 98k miles on it - pretty low for a 1994 model. Needless to say, she didn't trade it in and ended up selling 3rd party for $2,500. I remember when I sold my Maxima, the dealer offered $18k in trade while they were selling the same thing for $24k. I tried to tell them, to no avail, that they wouldn't even have had to prep the car as it was in better condition then when I bought it from them. I ended up selling it to an individual for $23,500. I'm never trading a car in again.

She's camera shy Smile

I never saw that version of the Probe here in the Netherlands only the newer? version, the one with the same sort of body style of the Cougar.

As for the Scion, never even heard of it. Looks nice tough it reminds me of the new style BMW's and Volvo's.
Fast is on the edge of control.

Game at 99.4% guess where I'm stuck at?

That style Probe was made in the US from 1993 - 1997?. IMHO the styling has worn well over the years. Much better than other cars of it's day. Scion is an offshoot of Toyota, so it's no wonder the styling isn't all that different from more expensive marques Smile The headlights scream of the new 5 series BMWs.

you need to change the gt-one road car to gt-one race car cause the road car isn't in the prize selection.

nice job there..............I have been an Automotive Paint Technician for 30 years and have been using 3M's Perfect-it III System for a few years and like it.

Heres what I have been tinkering with off and on for the past 6 years.

SprayTech - thanks. It's nice to hear that from one with experience. Your Ford project looks like quite an undertaking. Looks very cool.

My brother-in-law paints for a living and he swears by 3M products as well. The only 3M I currently own is Perfect-it Swirl Mark Remover (39009). I find myself using Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish a lot as it's medium cut but I've always been able to go straight to waxing every time (even on black). I understand the Perfect-it III line is better than the original Perfect-it line. What's a good medium cut product in that line? I'm looking for something without fillers -- seems like the SMR has fillers even though I've seen people state the opposite.

You welcome,
I had a link to the PDF file pasted but was to big and messed up you forum page, so I deleted it.Sorry

I also use 3M's Trizac 3000 grit DA sand paper on a DA sander after I have Re-finished a car and go through the Perfect-it III system , and sure makes for a slik paint job.
