This is a pretty solid setup, i've tested with a-spec and b-spec, and my laptimes are definately faster with it. It has got to be one of my favorite cars in the entire game, brilliant fun to drive! So far i've racked up almost 4000 miles on this beast. Let me know what you think of the setup, happy driving and as always your feedback is welcome.

Mr-Cat, i have bought a cobra and equipped it with all upgrades but even after many hours tinkering with the settings the car just didn't feel right, so i sold it and bought another and i think the car handles much better (but of course this is only my personal opinion). You say i should try my settings? didn't you read my notes? i have tested with both a&b spec; and on most tracks find that i can beat the 'default settings' ghost i make pretty easily. Perhaps you could tell me exactly what you think is wrong and ill try to improve it based on your feedback.

This is one of my favorite cars in the game, and I agree with (judging from this setup, at least) your "less is more" philosophy. I'll give it a run-around and tell you what I think. It's always nice to find someone else whose tunings aren't "max horsepower, all upgrades, highest spring rate, and lowest ride height".

Rigger- Very nice. Very VERY nice. I'll give you my impressions and suggestions in a moment, but first I should say that I did modify your settings SLIGHTLY, and my changes were as follows-

- I added a Full Custom Transmission (Auto-Set 24, then the following changes)
1st gear- 2.59
2nd gear- 1.81
3rd gear- 1.31
4th gear- 1.00
5th gear- 0.75

- I raised the ride height to 120 mm, as I did my testing on the Nurburgring and felt I needed the extra suspension travel.

- I ran the car on N2 tires instead of the specified R2s.

- I had the TCS set to 0.

I drove the stock version for a few laps to get used to it, punched in your settings (plus my mods), and hit the 'Ring. I was immediately floored by the improvement. The car retained much of its character, while being MUCH easier to control through corners. One of the things I look for in a setup is that it still feels like you're driving the same car, just better; you accomplished that with aplomb.

I think that a drift-style driver using a Driving Force Pro or anyone (grip or drift) using a DualShock 2 would really enjoy your setup. I was drifting like a pro, and I both dislike and am terrible at drifting. The quicker steering response granted by the DS2 would make this car a wonderfully flexible machine- grip when you need it, drift when you want it.

The few suggestions I'll make are just to nudge it a little closer to a pure grip-style car, and would probably only apply if you are using a DFP. It's just a little too tail-happy for my tastes.

- I'm a little leery of the front/rear spring rate balance you have. The AC is rear-heavy, but not THAT rear-heavy. I'd set it more in the neighborhood of 4.2 front, 4.9 rear (if not more biased toward the front).

- Related to the spring rate, I feel that the ride height is too low to keep the car from bottoming out over nasty bumps. Using the current spring rates, the minimum RH I'd use is 110 mm, and I'd raise it up to 120-130 on any track with a lot of bumps.

- I'd also bump up the shock bound to 5 front, 6 rear. The car seems to bounce a little after some of the bumps, and that should take care of it nicely.

Overall, I think you did a great job improving a great car, while keeping the spirit of the original intact.

CWood - First of all i'd like to thank you for your kind words, and also for the time you've put in to reviewing my handywork. I very much appreciate your comments on the car, how it handles and also your suggested improvements.

I think i'd gotten to a point where i was compensating with my driving style for the points that you have picked up on.

I have now just spent many hours round 'the ring', fuji and midfield trying to perfect the car's setup based on your advice. I must say that i myself am very pleased with the results of this joint effort! i have managed to shave 0.5 sec off my midfield laptime, 0.7 sec off my fuji laptime, and 7ish sec off 'the ring'. The setup i used is below:

Spring rate: 4.4 | 5.0
Ride height: 105 | 105
Bounce: 5 | 5
Rebound: 5 | 6
Camber: 1.7 | 0.7
Toe: 1 | 0
Stab: 4 | 4

The other settings i.e. LSD, tyres and driving aids are the same as before.

As you pointed out the car was riding a little low, i have raised the ride height and addressed the balance between the spring rates of the front and rear. I belive these two settings have made the biggest impact on the way the car handles (for the better obviously Big Grin )

I haven't increased the ride height quite as much as you suggested though as i'm trying to keep the centre of gravity low and the body roll at a optimally small level. I have tested this height at 'the ring' and saw no sparks fly from the car 'decking out' so im hoping it is a safe level.

I have changed the bounce settings on the car, increaseing the dampning on the suspension.

I would very much appreciate any feedback on the new settings before i update the old ones, as i know that the old one have gotten a good reception. I would also like to thank anyone who is prepared to test these settings in advance... so Thanks!

Rigger- No one ever agrees with me on my choice of ride height, but I give my suggestions on it anyways. The formula I use for determining spring rates necessitates (sp?) a higher ride height, and I'd rather have a little more body roll than stutter over bumps.

As for testing the new version, I already have. My rear spring rate was at 5.1 and my ride height was at 120 mm, but those were the only differences. The oversteer was subtler and came on gradually rather than full force right out of the gate, and a good, quick countersteer would snap the car right back to center for a nice, full-throttle corner exit. I've already gushed about your setup once, however, so I won't do it again.

I think I will spend my evening tuning my own version of the AC. I'll post it later tonight (EST). I'd be more than happy if you'd check it out and tell me what you think.

Have fun.

nice setup Thumbs Up when i compare the shelby cobra versus the ac cobra i hate to say it cause the shelby is an american car but i like the a/c a tad bit better
why cause i think it takes off better than the shelby and two the top speed is pretty much the same but i like both cars. anybody have any thoughts?
what ive felt, what ive known, turn the pages, turn the stone, behind the door should i open it for you? yeahhhh, what ive felt, what ive known, sick and tired i stand alone, could you be there cause im the one that waits for you, or are you unforgiven 2

Wow... I think I just found my new favorite car... Excellent setup. I definitely love the way this car handles over any other car. Right now I'm tweaking it just slightly to fit the way I drive, but only slightly. I'm really glad I bought this car and tried the setup. Thanks rigger, you get my vote! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

my question would be, how does this do on tire wear? im having trouble tuning this car for decent all round tire wear. im using it for the 1000 mile races in the euro events (i know potentially disgustingly over powered but the preview showed the ac cobra in the races so i used it.) i have mine slightly tuned more then this, full transmission upgrades. i.e. flywheel etc. plus port polish, balancing, and first step n.a. tuning. its up around 600hp. not to mention full lightening etc.
