If you have not driven this car yet than you are missing out on one of the golden cars of the game. This is my take on the GT4 version of the DBR9, a car that would have taken first and second in this years La Mans had they not suffered several mechanical setbacks. There are simply no words I can think of that do the power and agility of this car justice. In fact am not one of the greatest drivers however even I managed to belt out 7.01.xxx’s at Nurburgring. Enjoy and as always feel free to leave feedback.

Port polish and engine balance were added to the car.
TCS is for launch control only, setup done on the DFP.

overall a good setup, there is a slight hint of understeer, but that can be fixed with further tuning. Very good job.

I managed a 6'35.353 on a 1 lap run, I hit the sand 2 times which cost me upward of 6 seconds, plus some other excursions, I could probably hit the low 6'20s or maybe under that on a good clean lap. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Thank you, and don’t forget to try out my other setups. Feedback like yours (good or bad) is what makes it all worth it.

DTW,

Question about brake balance, is it just your prefference that you set your brakes higher than I do or could it have somithing to do with the suspention settings?

I mostly set my brakes at about 2/1 to 4/3 and by doing so creating a "long" brake pedal.

You are right on the money, I like to have a deep brake zone but keep plenty in reserve for a last minute dive. Unibrow

Ok thanks I thought so. My prefference is that I can "stand" on the pedal and still not lock up.

Greetz Zeratul.

My pleasure man! I rolled this bad boy out late last night and ran it in the Supercar Festival, didn’t bother to change a thing and I still beat the crap out of the competition. Thus far it is my favorite setup!

i tried out this setup on my db9 at midfield but with a
few changes. i ran with a stock engine (no NA, port,
or balance) and a racing chip. r3 tires and i also ran it
with no wing thus no downforce.

a couple things i noticed right off the bat;

when i brake hard, there's chirping and if i try to turn
after hard breaking, i'd get severe oversteer. this really
only happened on the first turn (the right hander) and
the last turn (the slow left hander).

i was just wondering if this is a result of having no down
force and less horsepower?

this isnt a knock on the setup at all 'cause when i kept
the oversteer to a minimum, i was able to put down some
good laps and my best was a 1:12.2xx.

do you have any remedies for a no-wing db9?

again, great setup and i'm tempted to see how well it runs
with the exact specs you have for yours.Thumbs Up

Thank you for the feedback, I don’t conceder anything short of “This setup is pure s**t” as negative. Now to your questions:

The lower hp should not cause any problems; it is the lack of wing which is giving you the oversteer as this car benefits a lot from the extra down force. Correcting this should be no problem though.

First change the brakes to 7/6 and test. If they are still squealing and giving oversteer take them down by one click increments but don’t go to low. Next take the front toe to zero and test. If still having a problem take the rear toe to zero and if that hasn’t done it for you try raising the stabilizers up by one click front and back.

From what I read in your comment the oversteer is taking place mostly in the corners under braking. Adjusting the brakes should fix this problem alone but if not the other advice will harden the car and induce understeer to correct for the oversteer. If none of this works or doesn’t work well enough please feel free to drop a post and let me know so we can work on this together. In fact one way or another let me know how it works out.

haha, i actually did exactly that, just on a hunch.

i took the brake balance down exactly to 7/6, lol.

it's perfect now. completely perfect.

put down a 1:11.xxx first time with the new brakes.

again, excellent setup and this really is a dream to
drive, you werent kidding. Smile

Cool deal! I suspected the brake induced oversteer is what you were talking about but this part of your comment threw me off a little:

I generally don’t brake on this turn for this track. I brake on the left before and try to enter with enough speed to allow momentum to carry me through the rest of the turn. Makes for some nasty off road excursions when I hit too fast!

If you are using the DS2 it may not have been the brandy; but, if you are using the DFP it was the brandy! Nod

If you are using the DS2 try to make the adjustments I suggested in post 12. If that doesn’t work give me your test track, average time, and hot lap so we can be on the same sheet and work on improving this car together. It really is a lovely machine once you get the wrinkles smoothed out.

Cool, I will be looking forward to your results, good or bad! But I forgot to ask you to be patient with any extra help on this car. I received a request by email and have already started on it, it will take one or two more days to finish as I refuse to rush any job. So I am not giving you the cold shoulder or avoiding you, I just prefer to work on one car at a time.

DTW,

Love this setup, it's realy well balanced while being totaly on the edge (1MPH to fast in to a corner and you won't make it). I can see why you say this is one of the best cars in the game.

Greetz and a vote Zeratul. Thumbs Up
