Mine does not have a tranny or LSD and I can't buy them...? Saw the other setups with those items. Pretty simple but effective in the all American.

I don't have this car, but don't most "Race" cars come with Full Customize LSD and Transmission?

Kerr, you are correct, on the settings screen their listed as standard not full custom but if you hit the wrench you can tune them. for this setup I obviously left them stock. I'll work on them later.

Thanks

No prob, that's what makes this site so great. A GT community to better all. I added LSD and gears, although 5th and 6th should still be closer and at higher values. (take the final to around 4.8 and then tranny trick to get close). I can be more agressive with this car now, early apex and power out.

Glad you like it.

Yeah, the developers should have been consistent with how they named parts on all of the cars. You can change gear ratios on a "regular" car only with "Full Customize" transmission, yet you can do the same with "Standard" on a "Race" car.

I know this sounds stupid but could somebody please explain the tranny trick? I usually tune all of the gears by myself, bu this tranny trick sounds easier and very effective. What are the benefits it has over custom gears? Thanks

"tranny trick"
The tranny trick is simply used to get closer gear ratios, fine tunning after to get your shift points were you want, launch controll, top speed etc...

Here's what I do. Auto full right, final anywhere from 4-5 depending on where its starting point is, auto stepped back left untill I see ratios I like, set final to hit target top speed, fine tune gears in a trial and error for shift points.

I like 1st around 3.000 and 6th close to 1.000 and a final from 3-4 for most high power cars.

Hope that helps.

In my experience with the gearing, I have found the "lines" on the gear "graph" most helpful in determining shift points. The more parallel they tend to be, the better distribution of power over the entire band through all the gears. The final ratio is the real key to determining how you want the car to perform. Obviously a very low or "open" final ratio will result in wider gears however the ratios will remain constant with respect to each other as you adjust this final ratio. So start with the final ratio high, or "tight", and adjust the individual gears until each one represents the portion of speed capability with respect to the max speed that you desire, and then open up that baby until you get the max speed desired. As you increase the final ratio, the "lines" will no longer be parallel but be decreasing in slope in a gradual fashion. This is good since, as said before, the gears remain in proportion to each other, they just all widen out equally.

A couple more things; I watch the acceleration rate before and after a shift and try to keep it as smooth as possible. I ment shift point in relation to track possition, set your tranny to auto and take a long high speed turn like the two right handers at tokyo if the car is toggling between say 3rd and 4h your not in the best powerband. I like to start those turns in 4th and be able to powerout into 5th as the car straightens.
