Yep, you guessed it. Another Togue Showdown car.

This time, it's a Prelude from JUN. It was one of the fastest cars in the Togue 280 Class. I don't know if mine is as good, but try it out and let me know.

I've also got port polish and engine balancing on this car. I'm kind of all thumbs when it comes to tuning FF cars, so if anyone has any suggestions for this car, let me know. I'd especially like to know how to cut down on the wheelspin. I was hoping less front camber would do the trick, but I'm not sure if it will work.

If you are complaining of too much wheelspin exiting a corner an increase in front camber to anywhere between 2 and 3 would cause greater traction. I would also suggest less camber on the rear as well as increasing the rear stabilisers.

I haven't tuned this car (or tried yours!) but when I do I'll let you know.
the glass is not half full as the optimists may say
neither is it half empty as the pessimists will have you believe
its just twice as big as it needs to be, yup that's right, i'm a realist

try my new MX-5 two-player battle set-up

Thanks for the tip. I'll try reducing the camber more and see how that works.

Nice start on the Prelude. I too usually stay away from the front wheel drivetrains, but now have completed the game 100% so I am looking for challenges. Cool A couple things I would look at when tuning this vehicle.

1. LSD. In theory, most cars with more than 300 lbs torque have difficulty applying the power to the road, especially with FF cars because of the weight transfer. Therefore a little light LSD is helpful in getting the most out of the machine. I am playing right now with this setting, but think something around 15/20/5 may be sufficient.

2. Downforce. Personally, I can not stand to see wings on a FF car. They make no sense! If you are going to apply downforce, load up the front, not the rear. When the car accellerates, weight transfers to the rear, by applying downforce to the front, you counteract that transfer and increase the traction on the front tires. Since it is is FF vehicle, this is what we want!

3. Stabilizers. This theory I have yet to grasp as to why it works, but on FF cars, max out the anti-sway bars and you have a little gem that rides on rails. If anyone can explain to me why, I would love the answer!

Overall, this set-up is a good original foundation that I am using. I'll give it a Thumbs Up

Thanks for the constructive criticism! I've been trying to revisit some of my setups lately, since they are pretty old. I'm not a huge fan of FFs either, but I like the challenge of trying to get one to drive the way I like. I mostly drive and tune for 2P battles on the Nurburgring with a friend who uses an STi Spec C, so FFs really can't/don't do much for me.

Looking at the setup again now, I can probably go with lower damper settings all around, and different spring rates. I've also been toying around with the tunable LSD lately, and your estimate is pretty similar to what I've been using on my other FFs now. I realized that the 1.5 and probably even the 2-way LSDs offer too much acceleration power, resulting in wheelspin. The lower acceleration value seems to be the way to go, and I even got a 380hp SRT-4 to drive somewhat acceptably.

As far as downforce, I'll try lower values for the rear. The setting of '25' tends to be my typical setup, no matter the drivetrain. I guess in the end, it'll vary depending on where I drive the car. I'd probably need more downforce for a track with long straights like the 'Ring, where I typically drive.

On some of my FFs, I've noticed that somewhat high stabilizer values would cause my car to swing around quite a bit. At least that was the case when I was trying to drive Citti Di Aria with its repeated direction changes. I don't really drive there much, so it probably wouldn't hurt to try bigger stabilizers on other tracks.

These are definitely some things for me to consider, though. I hope to try and work on some of my setups tomorrow. Thumbs Up
