It’s not just a Mazda; it’s an RX-8! It isn’t as good as the RX-8 Type S but since this thing is free, easy to win, and one of the first cars you get (assuming you run the license test first) I figured why not?

Until you get a feel of the braking performance break early, these aren’t Brembos. There is a small amount of tail waggle that didn’t want to come out without making the car too stiff, learn it and you can use it to get around the corners. Since TCS is for launch control feel free to take it off, but if you do watch acceleration out of corners or you will end up spinning.

No LSD needed at this hp rating, not tested for stage 3 turbo.
Port polish and engine balance added.
TCS is for Launch Control, setup for the DFP.

Yes you have to at least get all silvers in the IB License tests. It’s not all that hard to do and having a ghost of your last lap helps you gauge if you should start over or just keep pushing.

Let me know how she runs for ya, I have it sticking to the road pretty good; even over rough tracks like the ring. Handles well and the tail slide is very minimal, should be no problem to post good times and win the lower class races it can enter. Basically any race that allows S3’s, which is why most of my setups are done on S3’s!

Happy driving,
DTW

Speaking of bumpy I just finished testing this setup at El Capitan. I never knew that track could feel so smooth, if it wasn’t for the bounce at the top of hill when you come out of the tunnel I would have sworn the entire race was run on a smooth track.

It's nice to know you have minimal tail slide,
the last setup i tried was shocking when braking into corners and then booting it out of the corner again, the tail would go all over the road minimizing your straight line speed, half of the straight was doing fishies! Eek
and i'm guessing the soft tyres are maximum grip for sprint races, so would i be able to change them around for slightly longer races or want it work with the setup?
haven't tried it yet but i shall tomoz
Happy tuning, Sic

Changing the tires should give you no problems with the setup but remember this will increase performance including braking. And yes you are right the S3’s are for the sprint races. Sprint races are not a good gauge for tire wear but so far the longest sprint race I tested this thing in was 4 laps (don’t recall which track) and the front and rears where still very green on the last lap. I am going to hazard a guess and say that this setup is very easy on the tires. <crosses fingers> Paranoid

Are you using the DS2 or DFP?

Thanx DTW the car handles really well,
the car feels realyl stable when altering the steering on it.
perhaps fiddle with the gears a bit more to give it a lil more pickup, i sat my auto gearing to about six, cheers

and im using DS2 aswell.

I have been thinking about the gears (for this and all of my setups) a lot here lately. I decided against doing them and to stay with using only the auto setting for three reasons.

    1. The gears for a “Road Setup” will hinder the car on any track that is not close to the track used for the gear setup. The Auto setting though can be easily changed to ANY track by even the most inexperienced player.
    2. As with GT3 I have not found a race in GT4 that I really need that extra on. I am not saying that I am the best driver in the game. In fact I think I am pretty average, but when I am finished with a setup I can usually beat the AI with time to spare. Nod
    3. When I was first learning to tune setups I had learned how to tune the gearing also. After all this time (over two years) I have completely forgotten how to do it. Frown

Besides those three reasons I guess you could add a fourth. Based on the numbers of votes I have pulled down I don’t think I have enough of a “fan base” (for lack of a better description) to warrant the extra effort on my part of re-learning how to tune gears. Crybaby

DTW,

This setup is realy great, both on the stage 3 NA tune and the stage 3 Turbo, allthough with the turbo it's more a quallifing setup. By this I mean it's blisteringly fast but it requieres 110% concentration so very good for one hotlap but not so suited for long races as the car becomes quite an hand full.

One more thing, if you go for the turbo you'd probably want to go with race tires as well.

Greetz Zeratul.
Fast is on the edge of control.

Game at 99.4% guess where I'm stuck at?
