I began setting this one up in order to run it in the Scwarzwald Liga B championship (questing for 200 A-Spec), only to find that it wasn't eligible :(.

It's not fully completed because of that but running her around the 'Ring is quite a pleasure. There is, perhaps, a slight tendency for the rear to over-rotate when brking hard into a downhill corner but a small adjustment of the Rear Rebound might assist there if it proves a problem.

Sukerkin, I was pleased to win the Audi TT race at El Capitan with your fine setup, so you have my thanks and my vote. With 211hp, N2/N3 tires and 200 ballast I was able to take 179 pts. I used 0.3 higher springs front and rear to compensate for the ballast. With practice, I may be able to score the 200, but I'm a recent retiree and still in my first year with the game. I'm at 58,502 A-spec points with 14,174 A-spec miles.

Have you been able to find your Esprit setups? I'm really looking forward to your revised Esprit setup for contesting the Premium Sports Lounge and the Pan-Euro.
thanks,
Dotini

Hi Dotini

I really ought to pay more attention to what's going on here in GTVault - I missed this post despite popping in to add a few set-ups for the Esprit over the past few days :O.

I've been working on a base-level set-up for the Esprit using the second-hand GT and Se models and think that I have a reasonable platform to work from now. I'll have a go at ramping it up to levels competative in the events you mention and see what A-Spec we can get Big Grin.

I have some pace notes from the Pan European that talk about my using an Esprit (black ol, no HP ugrades) to 200A-Spec it on S2 tyres but failing at La Sarthe and the 'Ring. These are very old notes and contain no detailed set-up information (slaps self on wrist) so I'm sure I can come up with better.

I did the Premium Sports Lounge in an Aston Martin Vanquish tuned to 480HP on S2 tyres and had a heck of time getting 200 A-Spec due to the large number of grid shuffles required (which destroys the fun somewhat). I don't know if we can get the same performance out of the Esprit (that 5-Speed box is a handicap) but that doesn't mean we can't try Big Grin.

Thanks ever so much for the Esprit setups, Sukerkin. I asked for a sandwich but have been served a feast it will take many days to digest!javascript:emoticon('Thumbs Up')

I'm delighted to report I finally got that 200 pointer (with 203 hp and N1 tires) and with it, my 100,002nd point. My appreciation to you for your unique insight into damper tuning without which I wouldn't be anywhere near achieving this long tonne.

Although I still have all the enduros, all FGT, and 4 missions still to do, as well as assorted "shortages" in some of the more difficult manufacturers races, it's time for me to put away my GT4 game for a few weeks and do some real-world kart racing.

Thanks again Sukerkin,
Dotini

You're very welcome my friend and much kudos and congratulations with joining the elite 100,000 club :applause:.

Believe it or not , I'm still working with the Esprit Big Grin. I'm trying to get her to beat a Pitwork Z for decent A-Spec points in the Japanese GT Championship - I've been aiming for 150 A-Spec but haven't got it yet. The number of times I've held it off for 4.5 laps and then been barged out of the way ...

The tenth grid, without a Pitwork Z seems to be about the best for winning the whole series with a 150-ish A-Spec reward.

Well, I don't presume to be properly "in the club" until I can send in my screenshot to the gtplanet, but it won't be too long in coming. Would you consider the TVR V8S a worthy steed for your efforts, or a bit too easy? I love the rip-snorting sound of her sports pipes.

Also, I'm wondering if the soft and squishy nature of N1 tires could justify a firming up of overall spring rates and subsequent lowering of ride height values? In my mad dash to 100K, I've left much work undone. Too, I'd like to understand how some seem to get better results from stiffening the front end of understeering FF's rather than softening.

Big Grin

Many points there, Dotini Smile.

The V8S is a wonderful car to tune. I used one an awful lot for quite some time. I have a variety of them in various hardware suites, including one with a Tea-Tray on the back LOL. If you'd like me to have a look at dialing one in for a specific use then please feel free to mail me (sukerkin at googlemail dot com).

N1's are an evil tyre type to try and tune for - they have hardly any grip at all. A stiff suspension and low ride height combined with N1's might give an unpleasant feeling of driving on a Skid Pan. Putting N2's or N3's on the rear may help tho' - it would still more than likely be a case of you can brake or your can turn but you can't do both Eek.

Why stiffening the front springs on an FF can help with understeer is a bit of a complex issue as it involves relative roll stiffness (in both axes), camber stability and the fact that the game is much more responsive to front end changes than rear end ones. As ever when you encounter something that doesn't fit the 'real world' mould the only answer is to experiment. Change things a bit at a time and test a lot to confirm that what you think you've found is repeatable.
