skylines have a awd system called ATESSA-ETS (Active Traction Engineering System for ALL- Electronic Torque Split). the system has two g-force sensors that the car uses to calculate torque split between the front and rear wheels. in a drag launch, torque can be split 50/50 for traction getting off the line. then, once the hooks up, more power can be sent rearward. under normal driving conditions, the skyline is rear wheel drive, and only sends power to the front wheels when needed. the result is you get a car that handles like a rwd car most of the time, but has the grip of awd when needed.
atessa-ets pro on later skylines also controlled the abs to all four wheels
