My first "serious" setup (spend 1-2 hours) and it's a good base line that can be tweaked for your driving/track needs. Fairly easy to provoke oversteer, but not overpowered so easy to maintain.

I'm on the rumble strips a lot so the springs/ride height works for me, but can be stiffened and lowered if you're more precise. I haven't mucked with the gear ratios, just settled with auto 9, but there's probably room for improvement there. Also might wanna skip the racing brakes if you're strapped for cash.

I used this setup to win gold in all of the Club "RE" races and it worked really nicely, especially at Laguna Seca which was a really tricky one for me. For the RX-8 one-model race it dominated (but I took the championship with gold in each race using the stock version with only an oil change and stage 2 weight reduction there).
