A-SPEC ONLY - 200pts

I have heard a lot about this car, mostly bad. Personally I think its a great little runner and is great for stability. So I set myself the task of taking on the Nurburgring 24hrs and get 200 A-spec points in the process. First of all this setup is for experience drivers only. Its not going to work if you are crashing and coming off the track four or five time a lap.

When I first raced on this track I loathed it. Yes, its hard, monotanous and tiring. But, WOW, what a course. I now have a great respect for it, especially having been round the real thing, although it be in a normal car as a passenger.

Race Setup:

The setup is as above, the main points to note are the reduction in downforce, the LSD settings, and gear ratios. Because the of the reduction in downforce the gear ratios need to be adjusted to avoid engine burnout; the LSD settings are a little lower than I would normally set them, because I found that if set higher they would work against me in the turns, especially through the technical section. Other than that I found the other settings can be altered to your pesonal preference (within reason) with much the same result.

Race Car Line Up:

Vauxhall Calibra Super Touring Car '94
Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car '02
Nissan FALKEN GT-R Race Car '04
Audi A4 Touring Car '01
BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01

Other points:

The first point to note is that you will find it fairly easy to overtake all but the first two car in the line-up. Expect to have a battle with the Vauxhall and Audi TT-R for the first 2-3 Laps, after that things settle down. Pit after the first 5 laps, then if you stick to the track you should be able to squeeze out six lap runs before pitting. Fill up on fuel just to get you round to the pit again. This setup will be twitchy if cutting corners all the time, my suggestion is stick to the track. The car will remain stable for the whole race if driven properly.

Anyone wishing to try this out, GOOD LUCK and happy racing.

Setup via DS2. works just as well with DFP

I will update this profile when and if I beat the Chaparral 2D, which is my next conquest.

Hi Crafty
--I would love to take the 'Ring for a spin and I would care less if it was a bicycle. Where about the Isles do you live. I have friends near London.

I don't think they allow bicycles on the Nurb. Pity, I wouldn't mind donig it on a push bike. As stated I was a passenger with an old friend of mine. We just happened to be in the area and decided to go for a spin around the 'Ring'. I can't remember what it cost, but it would probably be about $12. Pay that and you get the privilege of taking on the Nurb for real.
I couldn't believe it myself, but its cheap. There are a few rules, but not being a driver I didn't really pay attention. Its worth it if your friends want to give it a go.

This was about two years ago now, so things might have changed.

I live just outside of Aberdeen, bit far away from London.
